TermWeb - Trados Studio Plugin

Overview

The new TermWeb plug-in brings direct access from the Trados Studio interface. This is done securely using permission schemes and API-templates.

 New term suggestions can be sent by a single click from Studio to TermWeb for customizable handling through workflows. Updates are instantly reflected in both TermWeb and all integrated Trados Studio clients.

Requirements

Supported applications

The TermWeb Studio plug-in is available for:

  • Trados Studio 2021 (version 1.0.4.0+)

  • Trados Studio 2022 (version 2.0.4.0+)

Please note the version number of the plugin available for your Trados Studio.

Server License Requirements

The TermWeb plugin requires a TermWeb server with SOAP API enabled.

Installation steps

  1. Download the correct version of the plugin for your corresponding version of Trados Studio.

  2. Make sure your Trados Studio is not running.

  3. Run (double-click) on the termweb-studio-plugin.sdlplugin file.

  4. You should see the following pop-up window:

  5. Select the correct version of Trados Studio and whether the plugin should be installed for all users of your computer or only yourself.

  6. Click next. Your installation should be complete.

Activating the plug-in in Trados Studio.

  1. Open your Trados Studio application. You can check whether your plugin is correctly installed via the menu “Add-ins” and selecting “Plug-ins” as highlighted below:

     

  2. To activate the plug-in for a translation project you need to access the Termbases resource in Trados Studio. This can be either done by;

    1. Selecting the File > Options menu (as seen in the top-left of the image above) and then selecting Language Pairs > All Language Pairs > Termbases in the Options menu:

    2. Selecting the “Project Termbase Settings” button in an existing translation project:

  3. In the Termbases menu click Use > TermWeb Studio plug-in. The TermWeb Studio plug-in should show as an option:

  4. Click Settings and provide the input the required information.

    1. TermWeb URL should be your corresponding server URL (i.e. https://example.termweb.net).

    2. Client should be your server client name (default is admin).

    3. Username and Password are your corresponding credentials.

  5. When you’ve finished inputing your credentials, click Check login and retrieve templates and languages. This should show any available API templates available for your user under the Templates header.

  6. Click on the template you wish to use by default. This should show any available languages for the select termbases:

  7. Click Ok and you’re done!

Using the plug-in for a translation project.

  1. Select the target language segment and you should see terms in Term Recognition window (as shown below):

  2. You can also click on the TermBase Search option to search through the termbase.

  3. To show additional information concerning the termbase, click on the Hitlist settings-button:

    Using the Hitlist settings you can configure which fields to show and customize their display.
